"Willow Creek Too"
Last fall (2009) I had an opportunity to work on a commission consisting of several watercolors in Willow Creek which lies about 4 miles south of Taughannock. Since the gully and creek are private land I had never been explored there before. I'll have to say that I truly enjoyed walking and painting the waterfalls and creek which line this strip of land. This painting (which was part of the commission) looks upstream toward the 80 foot waterfall which is about 300 yards away. The smaller of the two waterfalls is several hundred yards in the other direction and not far from the creek's inlet to Cayuga Lake. The greens and blues of the flowing water contrasted with fallen rust colored leaves invite the viewer into this painting, while the sun lit foliage and interesting angles of the trees beckon the hiker to to explore the rest of the gorge. Come and walk the Willow Creek with me now.
