" Garrett's Dream"

This painting marks the beginning of my “very horizontal format” works in 2005.   It was done from the back of Garrett’s Chapel on the Keuka Bluff.  The stone chapel was built in the early 1900’s by the Garrett family as a memorial and resting place for their son, Charles.   When I visited, it was late afternoon in October and the light was tremendous… that low glary yellow type of light.    I never noticed that the trees had been strategically pruned to provide the lake views until I was working on the painting.
