" Bales and Bluff"

This painting was done from high up on hill in Barrington.   Is it a painting of hay bales or Keuka Lake?   It's actually both and more.   Folks who have seen my work often asked me if I had a painting with some of those circular hay bales, so I finally broke down and did one.   This type of composition  must be done either early or late in the day, since long shadows must be used to connect the bale objects and create a flow for the viewer's eye.   As a result this painting features morning light which creates nice light shadows for the mid-ground trees and also gives a bit of autumn detail to the east side of the bluff in the distance.
