" Afternoon Conversation"

Ever since I started to show my picture from the front of Esperanza, the Canandaigua Lake crowd has been after me for something similar from Bristol Harbor.   I'll have to admit,  when I first saw the view from the back of the resort at BH it left me somewhat breathless for a few minutes.   Now all I needed to do was capture the essence of it, without using the same compositional benefits of the "Reserved Seating" picture.   The temptation was great with all those Adirondack chairs on the lawn, but there were a few late lunchers in restaurant which opens to this scene.  They were mostly couples and their conversations seemed hushed and somewhat secretive as I took my photographs.   In the end, I decided that this painting was all about those quiet discussions on warm summer afternoons that often take place in the presence of a backdrop like this.    Folks, I spent hours and many sheets of watercolor paper getting these distant shores, hills, and sky backdrop to be the view Bristol Harbor.  By comparison, the chairs were simple and easy (just as it should be).   Hope you like it!
